Hi Andrea,

many thanks for your contact. I run the script with no errors. pls
make sure, that you have the final version of scribus. otherwise
contact the admin of scribus. i am sure he can solve your problem
proberly.

kind regards.
dear Mr. Stern,
I'm writing you to have some information about the newspaper template fro
scribus you uploaded on february; I've downloaded it this morning 'cause
i'd
like to see it and eventually use it to create a newspaper for our scouts.
The problem is that when I try to open newspaper.sla with scribus
(1.3.3.14
installed on a Windows XP), the program says that it's not a scribus file.
Could you help me (or explain me why)?
Thank you very much!
Andrea

For the record, I just downloaded this .sla I get "File is not in an
acceptable format" when I try to open it using 1.3.3.13svn version of
Scribus (also just upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04, though I'm not sure that's
an issue)

that file has been created with 1.3.5.1 and can't be openened with scribus 1.3.3.14.

i could open it without any issues (except missing fonts) with the development version of scribus...

technically it's just a scribus file and not a template, but it still may be helpful to andrea for starting a new project!
(btw, this is a good use for the picture embedding functionality!... wouldn't be a good idea to enable the embedding of fonts in the same way, too? maybe with a way to extract them to the filesystem, too?)

I open it whitout problem in scribus 1.3.5.1 version (ubuntu lucid).
I have not 1.3.3.13 version to try.
hi, that file has been created with scribus 1.3.5.1 and *CAN'T* be
opened with scribus 1.3.3.13 (or scribus 1.3.3.14)

scribus 1.3.5.1 is not a stable version.

1.3.3.14 will (probably) remain the official stable version for the rest
of the year 2010.

for those who are still wondering: 1.3.5.1 or 1.3.6 or 1.3.7 will never
be a stable version!

the next stable version will be 1.4.
it will be released when it's ready.

It may be a good idea to put this warning not too far from the download
link. ;)

I had a look around, but couldn't find a template for the stable
version. I'd be interested in any newspaper/magazine templates for the
stable version if anyone wants to share them.

Why not open it, then "Save As Template", in say you
~/.scribus/templates/ directory

Give it a new name to save confusion, and then you will be able to
open it without warnings.

I have a request to make as far as different versions go how about you
guy's creating an autopackage versions of sribus like xaralx does that
way any with any distro can just grab a package and install it. Another
installer is installjammer which can install across platform linux, mac,
windos worth considering.
