Hello,

I got to print a A5 book on my brother laser printer :
when I print it using the very clever 'booklet' option, it's printed as a booklet of reduced pages...
since the option is intended to booklet print 2 A4 pages on single A4 page.

Printing a booklet with correctly sized pages would require
- either to do the imposition PDFly before printing. That has been discussed here, but is not a light process.
- or to produce a A4 PDF with each A5 page (thus on a 141% scale) first, that would then print A5
through the booklet option of the printer driver.
I didnt find any such scale option in Scribus PDF export however,
but maybe there are simple tools to achieve this ?

if you only have two to four pages, you can craete a new A4 landscape
document with 0 margins, add a middle guide, by using shift click and
the image tool fill each half of the sheet and load on each of them one
of the pages of the pdf.

when you produce the final pdf, use the experimental "pdf embedding"
option.

this is probably the best option for jim, too...

I managed to create a side by side view. When importing the pdf it was
badly laid out. Fonts are incorrect, spacing is bad. I find this
strange as I've just saved the pdf from scribus. where do I find the
experimental "pdf embedding"?

Cheers

which version of scribus are you using?

if you're using 1.4RC you will find the checkbox in the main pain of
the pdf export dialog...

good luck!

I print an A5 PDF created by scribus with Adobe Reader 9 in booklet mode
on A4 paper and the pages are not reduced (not scaled down). This is how
I print it on a HP Color Laserjet CP1515n:

Print frontside of pages: File->Print ...
? Print Range:
? All = Yes
? Subset = All pages in range
? Reverse Pages = No
? Page Handling:
? Page Scaling = Booklet Printing
? Booklet Subset = Front side only
? Auto-Rotate Pages = No
? Binding = Left
? Orientation = Portrait
-> OK

Print backside of pages: File->Print ...
? Print Range:
? Reverse Pages = Yes
? Page Handling:
? Booklet Subset = Back side only
? Auto-Rotate Pages = No
-> OK

bye
Andreas

Reading your mail I went back to the driver window with a renewed hope...
and i managed to find a "fit to paper" option that is compatible with "booklet printing"
and had mysterioulsy escaped me untill now !!!!!
And its there both and works perfect both in Acrobat Reader and in Foxit PDF reader
that i usually use.

Thank you :-)
