[scribus] Lost upper menu - Scribus 1.5 - update to Ubuntu 14.04

Hi,

Updating Ubuntu GNOME from 13.10 to 14.04, I've lost the upper menu in
Scribus Trunk (Edit, Insert, Format... and so).

If I start Scribus with shell, I get this message
"sizeof(TrkHeader)=1000"

No problem with Scribus 1.4.3.

Anyone with the same problem? Any idea about?

Thanks,

Diego

Try playing with the Font size for menus in Preferences (in Scribus),
and see if that makes any difference.

Thanks for the answer, Greg but no changes after doing that.

I've even change some parameters in scribus15.rc, but nothing happens...

Try deleting your .scribus directory (maybe by renaming), so that
Scribus makes a new one, and see if that corrects the problem.

This may be some conflict with the Gnome settings for menus and those
inside Scribus.

Thanks again.

Still the same... I think also the problem is about a conflict with the
Gnome settings. And, that's a big problem for me, so I have been working
my latest publications under 1.5.

Wow... I've "solved" this issue by launching Scribus 1.5 as root
(terminal -> sudo scribus-trunk).

Now, I can work with it, but I still don't understand the problem.

Number 1 guess is that you built this on a linux machine.

Number 2 guess is that you did something as root while building it.

One solution is to;

a. # chown -R Your_username:Your_Group Your_build_directory
b. Rebuild the svn version and only do the make install as root

Although I would suggest you build into your home directory then you
don't have to do anything as root
