What can be helpful, though, is to click-drag a currently or frequently
needed directory to the area labeled "Look in:", so then you have
created a shortcut for as long as you want it. When you don't need it
anymore, right-click and Remove it from the list.

Thanks for your answer, Greg. Sorry for my inaccurate description. My problem starts just at the „look in“ feature which you are recommending. The entries there are what I called „shortcuts“. No matter how often I drag some directory to this section – the next time this window appears, it is set back to original configuration. That means that there is the main directory and the user, nothing else.

I wonder if this is more some problem with the OS but with scribus itself.

Hmmm. I'm not seeing this, at least so far. Perhaps it is something to
do with MacOS. I am using Fedora.
